Potential Topics
This is a very interesting perspective on childrearing in the "new" Korean society. We have talked about this a little, but never in this light. With more women staying in the workforce after having children, more of the childrearing responsibilities are going to relatives (mostly parents). This is forcing children to live closer to their families, thus creating "clans" or areas in which large numbers of family members live in close proximity.
My questions for this would be.
1) Will you leave your children with relatives? Who will take care of your children during the day?
2) Do you see this movement of relatives gathering in geographic areas?
3) What can be done to give both parents and grandparents more freedom in childrearing choices in Korea?
